The Registration "Select" is not currently available.
Fall Select is a great environment for players to continue improving their skills in a competitive environmen. AVGS would like to field teams per age division (10U, 12U, and 14U) in the American Softball Association (ASA) sanctioned Fall Ball Federation league. This competitive softball league runs from September through November; teams may begin practicing on August 27, 2018.
Each team will play a series of doubleheader “friendlies” which are games against other teams throughout Orange County on Saturday or Sunday. There is also a tournament, depending on the age level, in November. The cost for this program is more than Rec and TBD. To be eligible to play on a Fall Select Team for Aliso Viejo, your player MUST have played for AVGS during the 2018 spring season for all divisions except 14U, or provide their ASA card from their previous All-Star team before tryouts.
Spring “Modified” Select
Spring “Modified”Select is a more competitive program of All-Star caliber teams with a greater time commitment required than our recreational program. Interested players MUST be registered for the 2018 AVGS Spring season. There will NOT be an extension to the deadline date of December 23, 2017, or any exceptions made to players who did not present their Interest form before the deadline date.
This is a great environment for players to continue improving their skills in a competitive environment, but with a bit less pressure than All-Stars. This competitive format begins on February 11 and runs through March 31. Each team will play doubleheaders on Sundays against other competitive teams throughout the Orange County area. In addition, there are also two scheduled tournaments: February and March.
Aliso Viejo would like to field the following Spring Select teams, based on number of qualified coaches, and players:
Tryouts for Select are mandatory and will be held on January 13, time slots for divisions to be determined and announced after January 13 as it will be based on number of applicants within each division.
Costs: There will be an incremental costs for Select, in addition to the Spring recreational fees, estimated between $75-125 per player to cover the additional umpire, uniform and tournament fees.
The final list of players who have completed the interest form will be shared with the Spring Select Managers. Those players’ skills will be assessed during evaluations. Other factors for team consideration will include: experience, coaches evaluations, and board knowledge. Due to the limited number of teams, not all girls will be “selected.” If your daughter is not placed on a Select team she will be included in the recreational league draft.
